Sleeping on the job!

Ishaan is pretty new out here. He's an adorable little one that we had the pleasure to photograph recently. There's nothing quite like how a new baby smells and feels. His mom Laiba and I spent the afternoon gingerly placing him this way and that. And just for kicks we played a bit of dress up too! We felt truly privileged to be part of his first few days in the world! 

 

Portrait of a Politician

This past weekend had us taking portraits of a truly inspirational man. Arshad Mahmood is standing for Councillor at the Mississauga City Council for Ward 4.  

He's done amazing things for the city of Mississauga, Ontario, and has only recently launched his political career. I could present a long list of achievements, but most notably, he is one of the founders of the Mosaic Festival. The festival and eventually the Square has come to create opportunities for hundreds of artists and add millions of dollars to the local economy. Having served as the Associate Director on Canadian National Exhibition and being a lifetime member of CNEA Arshad opted to support the local art scene by joining the board of Art Gallery of Mississauga. He has served as the Director, Vice President and eventually as President of the Board of Directors of AGM.

In addition to that, Arshad's passion for volunteerism and his hard work for the communities he lives in has won him the Mayor Hazel McCallion Volunteer of the Year Award in 2012 and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2013.

So, it was a real pleasure to work with a true 'man of action', as they say. Here are some of our favourite images! 

Dreaming of Spring! - A creative collaboration with Sara Baig Designs

We love kids! Anyone with kids knows how hard photographing them can be. We wanted to try something a little different for a children's photo session so we got some help! Our friends at Sara Baig Designs put together this lovely Spring-inspired setup for our little friends Gabe and Shehrezade to pose with. Maria & Omar: A Winter's Tale

Maria and Omar were a lovely couple to photograph. They got engaged recently, and are getting married this summer! We were expecting a snowed out park, but Toronto's weather surprised us, fortunately. This beautiful land off the Eldorado Park, was an incredible setting for this session. North York Moms unite for the Holidays!

Our Retro Holiday Photo Booth was quite a hit at the North York Moms Christmas Party! Despite my hay fever, and some runaway tinsel in our backdrop, the parents lined up with great enthusiasm and holiday spirit for the photos! We decided to give the images a retro polaroid effect with a vintage tone for fun! A big THANK YOU to our friends at the North York Moms and Organiser Extraordinaire Lily Cheng for putting up a great community event and having us over to participate! Happy Holidays Everyone! 

Holiday Photo Booth at the LANSING CO-OPERATIVE NURSERY SCHOOL!

Its that time of the year! Holiday photo booths are at every corner! We set up our own at the Lansing Co-operative Nursery School and had a great time photographing everyone in their most festive mood! Thanks to the Lansing co-op team who helped us get it all together and all the parents of course, for pitching in for the Christmas party. :)
